Thoughts on Google Tools

I think that all these Google tools are great resources. I really wish though that there was a place to find resources as to how others have incorporated Google tools into their MATH lessons. I find that you may be able to create lessons but they do not meet standards. Any ideas please post....

I really like the Google Doc application and the ability to colaborate on the same work through a resource available on the internet. I also found that linking the documents was a really cool tool as well.

Like I said before I think that Google tools are fascinating and useful in education but I feel that I am unable to incorporate these tools effectively into my lessons and I need some guidance and brainstorming possibilities.

Please post ideas and thoughts????

  1. Hi Julie, I am a Math teacher too. I will be watching to see if you receive any feedback on ideas. I would love to find some ways to use these tools in my math class also. I'll let you know if I find some creative ideas.

  2. Shoot, I just typed a huge long post in response to your question and I don't see it! I responded to the first invitation you sent. I wonder where it went? Let me know if you don't see it and I will retype it.

  3. Ok, I still don't see my original post.

I am a math teacher too.

I did a project last year where students were to chart the distance from Sioux Falls to Mitchell and create several paths to get from one place to another on bike. The students were to research weather, speed, landform, ect. They then had to chart thier data, create a map, and write a report on thier bike tour. Students did this project in groups of two or three. I think google docs would make this project a lot easier for both students to work on at the same time and to save the information in one location instead of sharing jump drives or emailing documents back and forth.

  4. I also wish that there was a place to find out what others have used to incorporate Google tools in the lesson. However, I know they are out there but I have to do some extensive internet searches to find what I am looking for and how I am going to implement it into the classroom. I am going to start looking at other teachers shared lesson plans. I have several links on my web page that have an abundance of resources to help me with my search. I will probably make a customized search engine to quickly review these sites.
